Book Buddy Literacy Initiative
As an additional Literacy Initiative, in 2024 the Book Buddy programme was introduced which saw our Year 13 students paired up with a Year 9 pupil whose chronological age was considerably lower than their standardised Reading Age.
We are absolutely delighted with the success of this programme which this year, 2026, saw a phenomenal 41 students participate for three mornings a week for five weeks. Not only were great friendships forged, but the improvement the pupils made in their repeated standardised tests are so impressive. All Year 13 mentors can include their participation in this initiative on their university/ apprenticeship applications which will make very impressive reading.
Overall, Mrs O’Hanlon is delighted with the ongoing success of this excellent Literacy Intervention.
