A Level (AS & A2)

AS & A2 pupils currently study the CCEA Revised GCE AS and A Level specification.

In Dean Maguirc College we study Single Award Health and Social.

Aims

This specification aims to encourage students to:

  • develop their interest in health, social care and early years;
  • apply their skills to work-related scenarios;
  • carry out research and present their findings in different formats;
  • develop advanced study skills that help them prepare for third level education;
  • develop knowledge and understanding relevant to degrees in nursing, allied health professions, social sciences, social policy, social work and early years;
  • develop skills, aptitudes and values for employment in the health, social care and early years sectors;

 

Assessment        :

AS (Year 13)

For the Advanced GCE (Single  Award) in Health and Social Care at most 4 units will be assessed internally, through teacher – assessed portfolios and at least 2 units will be assessed externally i.e. the exam units.
